Bread in a Pot! Who woulda thought!?

I've tried making homemade bread a few times over the past couple of weeks, and they tasted good, but I wanted GOOD. REALLY GOOD. When it comes to bread, good usually has to do with 2 things: The crispness of the crust and the texture of the inside. So I searched for a good crusty bread recipe and found http://www.serenejourney.com/2009/03/quite-possibly-the-best-homemade-crusty-bread-ever/ . It definitely lives up to it's name. It also quite possibly could be the best bread I've ever tasted. Period. At least fresh out of the oven, which can make all the difference. It's an absolute miracle that I've only had one slice.

When I told my Mom how excited I was about this bread she informed me that her grandfather used to make bread in coffee cans and such. For some reason this wealth of knowledge about pot and can bread-making in my Italian family was not passed on to me! Shame! Oh well, now I know.

I would have liked it to puff up a little more, but I think I should have baked it for 5 more minutes. I was too afraid that the bottom of the bread was burning so I took it out.

You can see the thick crust and the chewy, soft middle..mmm. Yes, these things excite me. More than you will ever know.

Who's coming over for some? This one is not leaving the house.
